Specialism: Patents
Richard has more than 35 years of experience in the patent field, including over 25 as a qualified patent agent. During that time he has practiced mainly in the semiconductor and telecommunication fields. His telecommunications knowledge was initially acquired during his stay in the patent department of Compagnie Générale d'Électricité (CGE), Paris, and he now acts extensively for the telecommunications and semiconductor community in the Ottawa area.
Richard was educated in England and has a Masters Degree in Optics, Solid State Physics, Atomic Physics and Statistical Mechanics from Oxford University, and a Diplôme in Intellectual Property and Civil Law from the Université de Strasbourg. He is a Chartered Patent Attorney in the U.K., a European Patent Attorney, a Canadian Patent Agent and a Notary Public in the Province of Ontario. He is also registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office on behalf of Canadian clients.
