John graduated from the University of Toronto with a B.Sc. in Mathematics and Physics and worked in business and research environments specializing in using and developing database related software.

Subsequently John graduated with LL.B. and M.B.A. degrees from the University of Ottawa's joint programme.

As well as a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada, John is a registered Canadian patent agent with expertise in mechanical, electrical and computer related inventions. He is also experienced in obtaining Industrial Design, Copyright and Integrated Circuit Topography Act registrations.
