Hetal Kushwaha worked both as a design engineer, and later as a patent coordinator for a farm implement design and manufacturing company. She then relocated to Ottawa in February 2000 to pursue a career in intellectual property. Prior to joining Marks & Clerk in April 2001, she worked as a technical consultant for a large intellectual property firm. Hetal's practice focuses on drafting and prosecuting patent applications, particularly in the areas of mechanical, software and Internet patents. She is a member of Intellectual Property Institute of Canada (IPIC), Fédération Internationale des Conseils en Propriété Industrielle (FICPI), American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA) and a registered Professional Engineer in the province of Ontario. Hetal obtained a Bachelors of Mechanical Engineering from the University of Saskatchewan in 1997.

In her spare time, Hetal enjoys exercising, practicing yoga and reading.
